Art Course
At Luther, each student has art class at least once a week. As a formal part of the K-8 curriculum, students receive hands-on classroom instruction and grades for their work.
The art program provides a means to develop and express creative abilities and skills that may be transferable to the enhancement of other disciplines.
In addition to having their work frequently displayed throughout the school, students also have to opportunity to have their work submitted, accepted, and recognized in various art competitions. One former LMS student was a finalist in the Heinz Ketchup Creative Art poster contest.
Students have also applied their artistic talents to develop sets for school programs and productions, and to created pictures and cards for children at the neighboring Children’s Hospital.
