Chapel
On Wednesday mornings, students, faculty, staff, and invited guests gather for chapel in the multi-purpose room. Parents of course, are also always welcome at this special time of worship. Each homeroom has the opportunity to lead chapel during the school year.
The
dress code for chapel days is a dress shirt and tie for the boys and a dress, skirt, or dress pants with blouse for the girls.
The chapel offering goes to a different ministry each month. In this way, Luther students begin to develop an awareness and concern for the needs of others. They also learn how small gifts, given by many, can add up to make a real difference in the lives of others.
In a given year, offerings may go to support the work of missionaries in foreign lands or here at home, ministry to the blind or organizations such as Heifer International and Habitat for Humanity.
Traditionally, the November offering goes to the Central Virginia Food Bank, and in December, students bring toys and clothing for the Christmas Mother Program. In January, CARITAS and the Wishing Well Project at Children’s Hospital in Richmond are also supported by chapel offerings.
