Involved Families
Special events throughout the year bring students, families, faculty, and staff together for fellowship and learning which complements the curriculum.
In September at the,
Getting To Know You Picnic, families have the chance to meet teachers, talk to the principal and meet other families and new students and experience the friendship and fellowship at Luther.
In December, friends and families are welcome to join Luther at Bethlehem Lutheran Church for a special program of scripture, worship and carols. After the program/service everyone is invited to share some Christmas treats.
Take off around the world on
International Night and listen to classes present their studies on different countries. After some cultural performances, families and students make their way around to the classrooms to sample the diverse cuisine.
For USA night each class gives a performance about one of the 50 states. After presentations, students return to classrooms to give a tour to incoming visitors. Visitors may meet a Massachusetts Minuteman, a cowgirl from Wyoming or a riverboat captain from Louisiana. As of March 2004, USA night and International Night alternate yearly.
On
Grandparents Day, grandparents and special guests are invited to a continental breakfast followed by a chapel service. After chapel, grandparents and guests visit the classrooms and tour the school and take part in planned activities. The day ends in an early dismissal.
Students whose grandparents are not able to attend are encouraged to invite a friend or other relative, or to honor a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church by asking them to be their "adopted grandparent" for the day.
In May the Luther Community turns out to cheer on competitors in friendly school-wide competition. Teams are made up of students from each grade who compete in age-appropriate events against others from their class. At the end of an exciting day scores are tallied. Fun, Teamwork and good sportsmanship are the order of the day.
